Confidentiality

Everything you share with me in the course of our work together will be treated as highly confidential. However, there are a few circumstances in which I am professionally required to break confidentiality:

Sessions

Counselling is a unique process for each person and the number of sessions required depends on you and your unique situation/issues. The duration of each session for individual counselling is 1 hour and couples sessions are 1.5 hours.

Payments/cancellations

Payment is required at each session and is payable by cash, card or EFT.

Your next session will not take place until payment is received.

Late cancellation fees apply unless there is emergency or exceptional circumstances.

Record keeping

I will take notes during or after each session to help me keep track of our progress together. These notes will be stored in a private and secure location. Your counselling records will be kept by me for a period of seven (7) years from the date of your last contact with me, as legally required.

Email or telephone contact will be limited to practical requirements and only in relation to our counselling work together including, arranging appointments.  Other examples are those where I may email you resources for your information or to work on between sessions – these will then be discussed, if necessary, in session.

If you are faced with an emergency in between sessions, the numbers to call are 000 or Lifeline on 13 11 14

Ending Counselling

Counselling is normally concluded by mutual agreement.

There may be times when it is no longer appropriate for you to continue counselling with me for a number of reasons, if this does occur I will discuss this with you.
